“London Boy: The Remixes” arrives as part of SEVEN’s first anniversary celebrations, presenting a refreshed vision of CRYME’s 2023 original through four distinctive reworks. Known for his fast-paced sets and an approach often described as playing CDJs like a musical instrument, CRYME continues to expand the vibrant universe around his productions. The EP offers a high-quality reinterpretation of a track that has been central to his sound in recent years, and it stands as a release we are happy to host on our webzine.
The original “London Boy” established itself quickly within the circuit that embraces the energy of techno while preserving the warmth and positivity of house music. Its rhythmic architecture—characterised by precise percussive layers and a forward-pushing groove—allowed it to become a favourite among DJs across Europe and beyond. In this new release, CRYME invites four artists who supported the track from the very beginning: MCR-T of Live from Earth, Roza Terenzi, JakoJako and Stef de Haan. Each remix maintains the recognisable pulse of the original while introducing different rhythmic structures, new synth textures and distinct atmospheres.
MCR-T’s version channels the rawness associated with Berlin’s underground environment, a context that also shaped CRYME’s own creative development. The remix sharpens the percussive framework with syncopated kicks and metallic hi-hats, creating an intensified rhythmic momentum. The synth lines are driven toward a darker timbre, expanding the track’s spatial depth and giving the atmosphere a more nocturnal character. The overall structure uses repetition as propulsion, turning the groove into a steady, muscular force.
Roza Terenzi offers a contrasting reading, opting for fluidity and elasticity in the rhythmic movement. Her remix introduces break-infused patterns that soften the rigidity of four-on-the-floor while keeping the dance-oriented energy intact. She enriches the melodic content with swirling pads and airy synth trails, expanding the atmosphere into a brighter and more dreamlike realm. The interplay between rhythm and synth work creates a dynamic that feels both uplifting and hypnotic.
JakoJako approaches the track with a focus on precision and modular-leaning sound design. Her remix builds on tight percussive micro-details and crisp transients, emphasising the mechanical aspects of the rhythm. The synths unfold in evolving sequences, generating an atmosphere that leans toward minimalistic techno but retains the warmth of house-driven harmonic progression. The spatial arrangement of the sounds gives the remix a sense of controlled tension, resulting in an intricate and immersive interpretation.
The package concludes with Stef de Haan’s contribution, a version that enhances the emotional qualities of the original through a more expansive house palette. The rhythmic foundation is steady and direct, relying on rounded kicks and shimmering tops. The synth elements are shaped into broad chords and melodic stabs that widen the track’s emotional arc. This remix accentuates the celebratory mood at the core of CRYME’s artistic identity, balancing groove-focused sections with moments of melodic lift.
“London Boy: The Remixes” arrives at a moment of significant growth for CRYME. Since beginning to produce in 2022, he has released multiple EPs, contributed to Pornceptual’s 10th anniversary VA and, in 2024, launched his label SEVEN, dedicated to uplifting, progressive and minimal house with a roster leaning toward Queer and FLINTA* artists. His work has received support from figures such as Deetron, Cinthie and Sol Ortega, and his trajectory now includes residencies at DeReünie and Pornceptual, as well as debuts with The Third Room, Gotec, Boiler Room and Basement New York.
Alongside extensive touring across Europe, Asia, Africa and the USA, CRYME continues to merge high-energy techno influences with the love-driven foundations of house music. “London Boy: The Remixes” encapsulates this duality while offering four new rhythmic, synth-rich and atmosphere-focused explorations of one of his most impactful tracks.
