PLAYKNOW’s “Is It So Hard To Be Good”, featuring Norwegian vocalist Kim Rysstad, belongs somewhere between the two. Its central question is direct, almost disarmingly simple, yet the music gives it enough space to become something larger than a straightforward statement. Built around synth-pop, New Wave, Adult Contemporary and subtle retro-pop influences, the track carries a polished contemporary production without losing the warmth of a traditionally crafted song.
The rhythmic foundation is one of its most effective elements. Rather than pushing aggressively toward the dancefloor, the groove maintains a measured, confident pulse that keeps the song moving while leaving room for the vocal to lead. Drums and bass provide a solid backbone, creating an understated sense of momentum. There is a certain restraint here that works particularly well: the rhythm never overwhelms the message, and every instrumental layer seems to understand its role within the arrangement.
The synth work adds another dimension.
