Dante Silvio SantodiroccoTasty Folk è un collettivo olandese con base a Eindhoven che vi presentiamo oggi. Protagonisti della scena locale, Snoeck e Saladiaga stanno portando una ventata di nuove sonorità attraendo un pubblico sempre più numeroso.
Oggi abbiamo il piacere di introdurre un duo molto interessante nella community di Parkett. Snoeck e Saladiaga i volti del collettivo Tasty Folk che sta creando un nuovo movimento musicale grazie all’organizzazione di eventi che coinvolgono locations caratteristiche, ormai il loro vero e proprio ‘touch’.
Qualche esempio? L’Evoluon, l’ex Centro Culturale Philips costruito nel 1964 dagli architetti Louis Kalff e Leo de Bever a forma di disco volante che troneggia nel quartiere hip di Strijp-S dove Snoeck and Saladiaga hanno suonato con Ange e Connect the Odds; oppure il Solar Festival dove tutti hanno ballato sotto la pioggia attorno ad un palco a forma di fungo gigante (che vi invitiamo a scoprire nel loro profilo ufficiale).
Insomma ogni evento ha la sua caratteristica e parteciparvi fa sentire parte di una grande famiglia. Ed è nostro piacere farvi conoscere i protagonisti e il loro suono! Buona lettura ed ascolto!

Ciao! Grazie per il vostro invito. E’ un piacere essere oggi con voi.
Tasty Folk… un nome abbastanza accattivante? Cosa c’è dietro questo moniker e la collaborazione tra voi due?
E’ partito tutto 4 o 5 anni fa quando abbiamo avuto l’occasione di condividere lo stesso tetto. Io (Snoeck) suonavo già da un paio di anni e avevo con me il mio Traktor Kontrol S8, che non aveva piatti. La mia passione per il djing è aumentata giorno dopo giorno fino a realizzare che per poter suonare in club avevo bisogno di una strumentazione completa. Pertanto ho acquistato un Pioneer XDJ-RX2. Come puoi immaginare all’inizio è stato un pò frustrante perché ho dovuto ricominciare da zero ma, non appena ho acquistato sicurezza, suonare è diventato molto più gratificante!
Subito dopo Saladiaga si è incuriosito e gli ho insegnato a suonare. Da quel momento in poi abbiamo incominciato a suonare B2B per ore e ore insieme. Volevamo sorprenderci a vicenda condividendo e scoprendo nuovi artisti. Questo ci ha permesso di rendere il nostro percorso sempre stimolante con la possibilità di conoscerci musicalmente meglio.
Usiamo questo approccio ad ogni set: cerchiamo di soprenderci e sorprendere il nostro pubblico ogni volta che suoniamo. Nessun set è uguale ad altro anche perché ogni pubblico è sempre diverso!
Quando abbiamo iniziato a condividere il nostro sound all’esterno, abbiamo notato che intorno a noi non c’erano molti eventi che proponevano sonorità Afro House o Deep House. Questo ha reso il nostro inizio un pò più complicato ma abbiamo deciso di prendere questa strada.
Inoltre abbiamo notato che il nostro giro di amici era composto da diverse figure creative nella moda, graphic design ed eventi. Tutti condividevano una linea comune: audacia, sensualità, positività, creatività ed unicità. Perciò io e Saladiaga abbiamo deciso di far confluire tutto questo in un unico concetto: ed è cosi che è nato il collettivo Tasty Folk.
E’ possibile riconoscervi da uno stile e suoni unici e da good vibes nel corso dei vostri eventi. Cos’e’ che vi ispira nel vostro percorso?
Siamo entrambi fortemente ispirati dal percorso di Keinemusik, soprattutto dal loro sound di 4-5 anni fa. Vederli dal vivo più volte ci ha fatto capire come un DJ set possa fluttuare per creare atmosfere diverse e mantenerlo interessante. È possibile scrivere davvero una storia con i tuoi DJ set, ed è sempre molto stimolante vedere uno dei migliori farlo. Naturalmente diamo il nostro tocco personale ai nostri DJ set per creare qualcosa di unico.
Ci ispiriamo ad artisti di tutto il mondo, con una preferenza per suoni strumentali organici. Pertanto il centro del nostro spettro musicale proviene principalmente dall’Africa e dal Sud America. Combinando questo con i suoni dei club fino a Berlino, stiamo fondendo la musica elettronica nel nostro mix unico.
Organizzate i vostri eventi in location molto caratteristiche in città. Ad esempio Mylc, Subbar e il prossimo 22 dicembre ospiterete Samm (headlined di Magnifik Musik) al Pixl. Come vi sentite a rendere Eindhoven il ‘place to be’ e qual è il feedback che ricevete dal pubblico durante gli eventi?
Grazie per le belle parole! Per noi, creare una nuova vibrante scena Afro/Deep House a Eindhoven è uno dei nostri obiettivi, se non L’obiettivo primario.
È difficile creare una scena che non esiste nella zona, ma ultimamente notiamo che stiamo attirando molte persone e anche gli artisti si stanno facendo strada verso il nostro concetto. Ci dà la sensazione che siamo sulla strada giusta e c’è davvero una folla per quello che stiamo facendo!
La community ripone la sua fiducia in noi per quanto riguarda le nostre formazioni, poiché non tutti conoscono o avevano familiarità con il suono. Convincerli ogni volta che ospitiamo un’edizione si traduce in una community in crescita.
Con Samm abbiamo davvero un regalo (natalizio) speciale per la nostra community. Siamo fortunati a poterlo ospitare dopo un anno così importante. Questa sarà sicuramente una delle serate più leggendarie che abbiamo mai trascorso fino ad oggi!
Avete qualche progetto per il 2024 che vorreste condividere con noi?
Per il 2024 abbiamo diversi grandi progetti in serbo! Condividere i dettagli a questo punto è complicato, ma sicuramente si parla di eventi in città, fuori città e anche di progetti completamente nuovi. Sarà un anno emozionante!

Today we have the pleasure to introduce a very interesting duo to the Parkett community. Snoeck and Saladiaga are the two main artists of the Tasty Folk collective which is creating a new musical movement thanks to the planning of events involving characteristic locations, that we can consider their additional touch to the event themselves.
Any examples? The Evoluon, the former Philips Cultural Center built in 1964 by architects Louis Kalff and Leo de Bever in the shape of a flying saucer which dominates the hip district of Strijp-S where Snoeck and Saladiaga played with Ange and Connect the Odds; or the Solar Festival where everyone danced in the rain around a giant mushroom-shaped stage (which we invite you to discover in their official profile).
Each Tasty Folk event has its own characteristics and taking part to it makes you feel part of a big family. And it is our pleasure to introduce you to the protagonists and their sound! Enjoy the reading and listening!
Hey guys, welcome to Parkett. How are you doing?
Hi guys! Thank you so much for inviting us. We are very grateful to be here. We are doing great, hope all is good with you as well?
Tasty Folk… quite a captivating name. What is behind the origin of this moniker and of the collaboration between you two? What is your background?
So it all started 4-5 years ago when we got the opportunity to live together under the same roof. I (Snoeck) was already playing for 1-2 years, so I brought my Traktor Kontrol S8, which had no jogwheels, with me to our new place. The passion for DJ’ing grew rapidly and I soon realized that I had to learn to play with jogwheels if I wanted to play in clubs, so I upgraded to the Pioneer XDJ-RX2. At first it felt very frustrating to have to relearn to play, but after I got the hang of it, playing became more rewarding than ever before. Not short after, Saladiaga’s curiosity got sparked and I started teaching him how to play.
Naturally, we started playing B2B for hours together. We wanted to impress each other with gems every time, which was a super fun way to discover new artists together. This kept everything exciting and helped to truly understand each other’s musical taste.
Because we still surprise each other every set we play, we are still motivated and excited for every gig we play. No sets are the same, who knows where the crowd and venue is going to take us!
When we wanted to share our sound to the world, we noticed that there were no other events in the area where they played Afro house/Deep house. Which made it difficult to make a name for ourselves.
So we decided to ourselves! And we noticed that we had very talented creative friends around us, who were busy creating their own concepts in different areas; Events, fashion and graphic design.
All of their concepts shared the same core elements; Bold, Sexy, Positive, Creative and Unique.
Seeing this, Saladiaga and I pitched the idea to combine our forces in order to reach our goals together.
Not long after, Tasty Folk was born.
You could be well recognized for a distinctive sound, nice groove and the good vibes within your parties. What is inspiring you in this journey?
We are both heavily inspired by the Keinemusik sound, especially from their sound 4-5 years ago. Seeing them live multiple times gave us an understanding of how a DJ set can fluctuate to set different moods to keep it interesting. It is possible to truly write a story with your DJ sets, and it is always very inspiring to see one of the best do it. Of course, we give our own twist to our DJ sets to create something of our own.
Also we are inspired by artists all over the world, with a preference for organic instrumental sounds. Therefore the center of our musical spectrum mostly originates from Africa and South America. Combining this with the club sounds all the way to berlin, we are blending electronic music into our own unique mix.
So long, you are proposing gigs in cool places in town. We can name the Mylc, Subbar and next 22nd December you will host Samm (headliner from Magnifik Musik) at Pixl. How do you feel making Eindhoven the place to be and what is the feedback from the audience at your parties?
Thanks for the nice words! You using these words already means the world to us. It is one of our, if not THE primary goal to create a new vibrating Afro/Deep house scene in Eindhoven.
It is difficult to create a scene that doesn’t exist in the area, but lately we notice that we are attracting a crowd and also artists are finding their way to our concept. It gives us the feeling that we are on the right track and there really is a crowd for what we are doing!
The community puts their trust in us regarding our line-ups, as not everyone is/was familiar with the sound. Convincing them every time we host an edition, results in a growing community.
With Samm, we really have a special (Christmas) treat for our community. We are lucky to be able to host him after he had such a huge year. This is for sure going to be one of the most legendary nights we have ever had till this date!
Do you have some projects for the 2024 that you want to share with us?
For 2024 we have several big projects up our sleeves! Sharing details at this point is tricky, but there are definitely some talks for events inside town, outside town and also completely new projects. It’s going to be an exciting year!
