Biagio Antonacci, nella sua “Non vivo più senza te“, ci ha parlato di una vacanza in Salento in cui conobbe una donna che gli fece perdere la testa. Quasi come fosse un parallelismo, noi in Salento abbiamo trovato qualcuno che ci ha rapito con la sua selezione e con le sue produzioni. Stiamo parlando di Alessandro, in arte Hotswing, DJ/producer pugliese fino al midollo. Lo abbiamo conosciuto durante una serata nella splendida cornice del Casamar di Otranto.
Tra il fine arredamento, l’impianto potente e la scenografia tipica dei migliori resort mediterranei, Hotswing ci ha deliziato con una selezione curata nei minimi dettagli, senza sbavature.
Artista poliedrico, che spazia dalla disco alla tech house, Hotswing vanta varie uscite su etichette internazionali, tra cui Toolroom, Glasgow Underground, Lapsus Music e Too Many Tales
Preso com’era quella sera dalla sua esibizione, abbiamo lasciato che il tempo fosse maturo e la pista fosse sgombra per rivolgergli qualche domanda.

Ciao Hotswing, benvenuto su Parkett! Iniziamo con una domanda personale: chi è Alessandro, prima di diventare Hotswing?
Un ragazzo cresciuto con la musica fin da bambino! Ho avuto la fortuna di nascere in una famiglia di appassionati e questo mi ha portato ad avvicinarmi ai giradischi già a sette o otto anni. A dodici o tredici anni facevo già le prime serate e da lì non mi sono più fermato.
Ho iniziato prima come DJ e solo dopo mi sono avvicinato alla produzione musicale. La console è sempre stato il posto dove mi sono sentito più sicuro: ho sempre avuto fiducia nella mia capacità di leggere la pista e scegliere il disco giusto al momento giusto. Credo che sia proprio questo ad avermi fatto guadagnare negli anni la fiducia di organizzatori e colleghi.
La produzione è arrivata dopo, quasi come un’esigenza naturale. Sentivo il bisogno di creare un suono mio e di far conoscere la mia musica anche oltre il territorio in cui lavoravo. Da lì è nato Hotswing.
Quest’estate sei resident al Casamar e condividerai la console con artisti come Damian Lazarus, Dimitri From Paris, Stryv e Pauza. Cosa rappresenta per te questa residency e quanto influisce sul tuo percorso artistico?
Sicuramente rappresenta un traguardo molto importante. Casamar ha scelto una direzione artistica ben precisa, orientata verso un sound underground che è esattamente il percorso su cui ho costruito il mio percorso negli ultimi dieci anni. È una scena che conosco profondamente, perché ci ho investito tempo, studio e tantissimo lavoro in studio di produzione.
Per questo mi sento a mio agio in un ruolo come quello di resident. Condividere la console con artisti del calibro di Damian Lazarus, Dimitri From Paris, Stryv e Pauza è uno stimolo enorme, ma allo stesso tempo mi sento pronto a ricoprire qualsiasi ruolo richieda la serata: aprire, creare il giusto percorso musicale, accompagnare il pubblico fino al main act oppure chiudere il party mantenendo l’energia giusta. Credo che il compito di un resident sia proprio questo: leggere il momento, adattarsi e valorizzare l’esperienza dall’inizio alla fine.
Oltre alla musica, continui a sviluppare OFF FIRE, un format che negli anni ha costruito una forte identità. Quanto è importante, oggi, affiancare all’attività da DJ e producer un progetto capace di creare esperienze e valorizzare il territorio?
OFF FIRE rappresenta il punto d’incontro di tutto quello che faccio: il DJ, il producer e la voglia di creare esperienze. Organizzare questi eventi mi ha fatto rivivere l’entusiasmo delle prime feste che organizzavo da ragazzo, ma con un’esperienza e una maturità completamente diverse. Oggi ogni progetto è studiato nei dettagli, con una direzione artistica precisa e un’identità ben definita.
L’idea di OFF FIRE nasce dalla volontà di offrire al territorio qualcosa che sentivo mancasse: un format realmente credibile, dedicato alla cultura underground e pensato per un pubblico che ha voglia di vivere la musica in modo autentico. Per questo non mi interessa seguire le strade più semplici o scegliere location convenzionali. Mi piace trasformare luoghi inaspettati in esperienze uniche. L’esempio più rappresentativo è il party organizzato all’interno di una sfasciacarrozze: un posto dove nessuno avrebbe mai immaginato di vivere una notte di musica elettronica. È proprio questa continua ricerca di idee nuove che rende OFF FIRE un progetto che non si accontenta mai e che cerca sempre di sorprendere.
Questo percorso continuerà anche con la nascita di OFFYR, la nuova label discografica legata al progetto. L’obiettivo è creare una piattaforma che non si limiti agli eventi, ma che possa valorizzare artisti e produzioni con la stessa identità musicale e la stessa visione che da sempre caratterizzano OFF FIRE. Per me è l’evoluzione più naturale del progetto: dagli eventi alla musica, mantenendo un’unica filosofia.
A settembre prenderà il via “Listen to OFF FIRE”, hosted by Hotswing, un nuovo radio show che ospiterà DJ set esclusivi di artisti come Supernova e altri protagonisti della scena. Com’è nata l’idea e quale obiettivo ti sei posto con questo progetto?
Creare un radio show è sempre stato uno dei miei obiettivi, ma ho preferito aspettare il momento giusto. Un progetto del genere richiede costanza, dedizione e, soprattutto, un percorso alle spalle. Non si tratta solo di registrare un DJ set: bisogna costruire negli anni un bagaglio musicale, creare relazioni autentiche con altri artisti e guadagnarsi la loro fiducia.
“Listen to OFF FIRE” nasce proprio da questo. Grazie al percorso che ho fatto come DJ e producer, oggi ho la possibilità di ospitare amici e artisti che stimo, come Supernova di Lapsus Music, insieme a tanti altri protagonisti della scena underground. L’obiettivo è creare uno spazio dove la musica sia la vera protagonista, offrendo DJ set esclusivi e raccontando il sound e l’identità di OFF FIRE anche al di fuori degli eventi. Credo sia un modo per dare continuità al progetto e, allo stesso tempo, creare una piattaforma di valore per gli artisti coinvolti.

Hi Hotswing, welcome to Parkett! Let’s start with a personal question: who was Alessandro before he became Hotswing?
A guy who grew up with music from a very young age! I was lucky enough to be born into a family of music lovers, and that led me to start spinning records when I was just seven or eight years old. By the time I was twelve or thirteen, I was already hosting my first gigs, and I haven’t stopped since.
I started out as a DJ and only later got into music production. The DJ booth has always been where I’ve felt most confident: I’ve always trusted my ability to read the crowd and pick the right record at the right moment. I think that’s exactly what has earned me the trust of promoters and colleagues over the years.
Production came later, almost as a natural progression. I felt the need to create my own sound and to share my music beyond the area where I was working. That’s how Hotswing was born.
This summer you’re a resident at Casamar and will be sharing the decks with artists like Damian Lazarus, Dimitri From Paris, Stryv, and Pauza. What does this residency mean to you, and how does it influence your artistic journey?
It’s definitely a very important milestone. Casamar has chosen a very specific artistic direction, focused on an underground sound—which is exactly the path I’ve been building my career on for the past ten years. It’s a scene I know deeply, because I’ve invested time, study, and a tremendous amount of work in the production studio.
That’s why I feel comfortable in a role like this as a resident. Sharing the DJ booth with artists of the caliber of Damian Lazarus, Dimitri From Paris, Stryv, and Pauza is a huge inspiration, but at the same time, I feel ready to take on whatever role the night calls for: opening the set, creating the right musical flow, guiding the audience toward the main act, or closing out the party while maintaining the right energy. I believe that’s exactly what a resident’s job is: to read the moment, adapt, and enhance the experience from start to finish.
In addition to music, you continue to develop OFF FIRE, a format that has built a strong identity over the years. How important is it today to complement your work as a DJ and producer with a project capable of creating experiences and promoting the local area?
OFF FIRE represents the convergence of everything I do: the DJ, the producer, and the desire to create experiences. Organizing these events has allowed me to relive the enthusiasm of the first parties I organized as a teenager, but with a completely different level of experience and maturity. Today, every project is meticulously planned, with a precise artistic direction and a well-defined identity.
The idea for OFF FIRE came from a desire to offer the local community something I felt was missing: a truly credible format, dedicated to underground culture and designed for an audience that wants to experience music in an authentic way. That’s why I’m not interested in taking the easy route or choosing conventional venues. I enjoy transforming unexpected places into unique experiences. The most representative example is the party we organized inside a junkyard: a place where no one would ever have imagined spending a night enjoying electronic music. It’s precisely this constant search for new ideas that makes OFF FIRE a project that’s never satisfied and always strives to surprise.
This journey will continue with the launch of OFFYR, the new record label associated with the project. The goal is to create a platform that goes beyond events and showcases artists and productions that share the same musical identity and vision that have always defined OFF FIRE. For me, this is the most natural evolution of the project: from events to music, while maintaining a single philosophy.
This September will see the launch of “Listen to OFF FIRE,” hosted by Hotswing, a new radio show featuring exclusive DJ sets by artists like Supernova and other key figures in the scene. How did the idea come about, and what goal have you set for yourself with this project?
Creating a radio show has always been one of my goals, but I preferred to wait for the right moment. A project like this requires perseverance, dedication, and, above all, a track record. It’s not just about recording a DJ set: you have to build up a musical repertoire over the years, forge authentic relationships with other artists, and earn their trust.
“Listen to OFF FIRE” was born precisely from this. Thanks to my journey as a DJ and producer, I now have the opportunity to host friends and artists I admire, such as Supernova from Lapsus Music, along with many other key figures in the underground scene. The goal is to create a space where music takes center stage, offering exclusive DJ sets and showcasing the sound and identity of OFF FIRE even outside of events. I believe this is a way to give the project continuity and, at the same time, create a valuable platform for the artists involved.
