San.

Frenzy, funky, sometimes even bizarre: San Proper lands on Parkett ready to talk about his past, his present and off course his future.

Let’s start from your hometown, Amsterdam it’s an amazing place, full of music and culture, what is your relationship with the capital of Netherlands? Which places do you love the most and which one you don’t like?

I am lover, therefore I love more than I hate. I can even find joy at the Municipality or when I do taxes with my mother. There are a couple of spots i can think of which could get on my nerves, but I would rather focus on the charm of these examples.

How did you reach to the music? What’s the path that brought a little child to become San Proper?

I started collecting music on cassettes and vinyl and I started playing guitar at the age of 8 or 9, if I remember correctly.
I still do the same today.

Rush Hour, Perlon, Dekmantel, every label want a piece of you, or better a piece of your music, but what’s San Proper favourite label?

There is no such thing. Life and it’s fruit is not like a football-match. It has never been about one winner or one way or the best…

We talked about the producer, let’s get back to the deejay, your sets are amazingly heterogeneous, how do you look for your next tunes?

They cross my path as if there is an actual script to this scenario.

Which are yours idols, the ones who inspired you as a man and as a musician?

Too many people inspire me still today. From close friends to new people I meet. Painters, poets, architects, vocalists, chefs, bartenders and  girls waiting tables, electronic music producers and acoustic instrumentalists.

Passionate people.
And my mother too.

Come check out my set and I can give you a taste.

Love,

San.
