Qual è stata la scintilla creativa iniziale dietro “Perfect Duet” e come è nata la collaborazione con Gracie?
Abbiamo incontrato Gracie e le abbiamo chiesto di unirsi a noi per un brano. È arrivata in studio con un’idea e, non appena ha iniziato a cantare il ritornello, noi quattro abbiamo iniziato a lavorarci sopra insieme. Credo che sia una di quelle canzoni che racchiudono perfettamente ciò che sono gli LZ7: prendere un drop enorme e un ritornello quasi etereo e fonderli insieme in una hit estiva.
“Perfect Duet” è descritta come la prima release di un progetto più ampio in arrivo: in che modo questo brano anticipa ciò che pubblicherete più avanti quest’anno?
Il nostro primo singolo dello scorso anno, Rewind, ha dato il via a un album che verrà scritto e pubblicato nel 2026. Perfect Duet, come singolo successivo, ci è sembrato avere una forza altrettanto coinvolgente. Stiamo lavorando al nuovo album proprio in questo momento e non vediamo l’ora che le persone possano ascoltarlo.
Cosa ha spinto gli LZ7 ad approfondire il drum and bass moderno in questa release mantenendo comunque il vostro suono anthemico?
Ottima domanda. Siamo cresciuti come skater e la drum and bass era una parte enorme di quella scena. Ci è sembrato uno spazio autentico in cui entrare, accanto ai grandi anthem che abbiamo realizzato in passato. Siamo fortemente influenzati da artisti come Prodigy, Pendulum, Wilkinson, Becky Hill e Dimension, e questo nuovo sound sembra un territorio a cui apparteniamo sia dal punto di vista live che produttivo.
Come avete costruito l’energia, i drop e il ritornello pensato per il pubblico di “Perfect Duet” sia per i club che per le grandi arene?
Ha semplicemente quel “qualcosa”, no? Volevo davvero creare uno spazio in cui le persone potessero lasciarsi andare e vibrare con la nostra musica, sapendo di avere uno scopo e un futuro luminoso davanti a sé. Se alzano lo sguardo verso l’orizzonte possono vederlo, e credo che canzoni come Perfect Duet permettano che quel momento accada.
In che modo le vostre radici a Manchester e le esperienze tra Londra e Manchester hanno influenzato il suono e il messaggio degli LZ7?
Gli LZ7 sono un ibrido tra le due città. Sono cresciuto a Londra e dintorni e poi mi sono trasferito a Manchester, dove è nato il progetto LZ7. La scena musicale in entrambe le città è enorme e la fusione tra le due è uno spazio che sentiamo nostro. Dopo essere tornati a Londra e aver aperto un ufficio lì, ora abbiamo davvero il meglio di entrambi i mondi.
Gli LZ7 sono noti per fondere EDM, pop, dance, rap e rock: come riuscite a sperimentare con i generi restando fedeli alla vostra identità?
C’è un messaggio preciso dietro la nostra musica: un messaggio di speranza, scopo, luce e fede in qualcosa di più grande di noi. La musica è pensata per sollevare l’anima e parlare al cuore. Qualunque sia il tuo background, la tua provenienza o la parte del mondo da cui arrivi, la musica crea una piattaforma per trasmettere il messaggio di non arrendersi mai, continuare a respirare, perché il domani porta le risposte ai problemi di oggi. Passo dopo passo, vogliamo che la nostra musica ispiri una generazione a vivere la propria vita con intenzione, come se lo volesse davvero.
La vostra musica viene spesso descritta come positiva e centrata sulle persone: quanto è importante questa mentalità oggi nello scrivere e performare musica elettronica?
Credo che, se si approfondisce il background di ogni canzone, ci sia sempre un significato dietro il lavoro di ogni artista. Per noi affrontare temi di cui spesso non si parla è un modo per toccare parti del cuore che a volte restano in ombra. Sì, è molto positivo, è molto edificante e speriamo che crei un momento in cui le persone possano comprendere davvero il messaggio che c’è dietro.
Cosa significa per gli LZ7 esibirsi in grandi arene accanto a Jason Derulo in questa fase della vostra carriera?
È semplicemente incredibile! Se sei stato a uno dei nostri show, avrai visto il movimento del pubblico mentre la musica crea un’atmosfera in cui le persone possono perdersi in un momento euforico e magari uscire dall’arena sentendosi più leggere, consapevoli di avere uno scopo, di significare qualcosa per qualcuno. Inoltre, crediamo che gli LZ7 siano un perfetto warm-up per un artista come Jason, grazie al suo show ad alta energia che si unisce alla nostra introduzione altrettanto energica. È una grande partnership.
In cosa il vostro live ad alta energia si differenzia dalle versioni in studio dei brani, specialmente con tracce drum and bass come “Perfect Duet”?
Bella domanda! Abbiamo versioni live e versioni studio. Le versioni live sono più brevi, così possiamo passare da un brano all’altro in modo efficace mantenendo l’energia sempre alta. Ci è piaciuto molto curare questo show e abbiamo vissuto momenti incredibili, con migliaia di luci che si accendono mentre condividiamo il messaggio dietro la musica.
Guardando al futuro, cosa possono aspettarsi i fan dagli LZ7 oltre questa release e il tour?
Potete aspettarvi molto di più! Lavoriamo costantemente dietro le quinte per creare musica unita a un messaggio che ispiri la prossima generazione. Quando esce qualcosa di nostro, speriamo che le persone lo ascoltino per ciò che è, alzino il volume ovunque si trovino e comprendano che hanno valore per il mondo. What was the initial creative spark behind “Perfect Duet,” and how did the collaboration with Gracie come together?
We met Gracie and asked her to jump in on a song. She turned up to the studio with an idea and the four of us bounced around as soon as she started singing the chorus. I feel like it’s one of those songs that fuses exactly what LZ7 is about. Taking a huge drop with an anthemic chorus and fusing them together for a summer banger..
“Perfect Duet” is described as the first release from a larger upcoming project—how does this track set the tone for what’s coming later this year?
Our first single last year rewind set the tone for an album to be written and released this year in 2026. Perfect duet as a follow-up single felt like it had a similar catch to it. We are working on the new album as we speak and cannot wait for people to get their ears around it.
What inspired LZ7 to dive deeper into modern drum and bass on this release while maintaining your signature anthemic sound?
That’s a very good question. We all grow up as skater boys and DN B was a massive part of that scene. It felt like an authentic space to jump into alongside all the big anthems we’ve done in the past. Highly influenced by the lights of Prodigy, pendulum, Wilkinson, Becky Hill and dimension the new sound feels like it’s a space that we belong in from both a live and production perspective.
How have your roots in Manchester and your experiences between London and Manchester shaped the sound and message of LZ7?
LZ7 is a hybrid of the two cities. I grew up in and around London and moved to Manchester, where we birthed LZ7. The music scene in both cities is massive and the fusion between the two feels like a space we’ve occupied. Since moving back to London and starting a London office, we now have the best of both worlds.
It’s just got that thing hasn’t it! I genuinely wanted to create a space where people let go and are able to vibe to our stuff knowing that they have a purpose and a future that is bright and if they lift their heads to look to the horizon they can see it and I believe songs are perfect duet allow that moment to happen.
LZ7 are known for blending EDM, pop, dance, rap, and rock influences—how do you balance genre experimentation while staying true to your identity?
Yeah, there is a definite message behind our Music a message of hope, purpose, light to the full and finding a faith in something bigger than ourselves. The music is meant to lift the soul and speak to the heart. Whatever background, heritage, Faith, Part of the world you are from the music create a platform for the purpose of the message to never give up, just keep breathing, tomorrow holds the answers to today’s problems. Little by little step-by-step, we want the music to inspire a generation to live their life on purpose Like they mean it!
Your music is often described as positive and people-focused—how important is that mindset when writing and performing electronic music today?
I think, if you delve into the background of every song there will be a meaning from every artist. I believe delving deep into subjects that aren’t often talked about is a method of LZ7 being able to scratch the parts of the heart that are sometimes left behind. Yes, it is really positive. It is really uplifting and hopefully create a moment where people can engage in realising the message behind it.
What does performing on large arena stages alongside Jason Derulo mean for LZ7 at this stage of your career?
It is utterly incredible!. If you have been to a show you will see the movement in the crowd as the music creates an atmosphere for people to lose themselves in a euphoric moment and maybe walk out of the arena feeling lighter on their feet, that someone has a purpose for them, that they mean something to someone. We can also see and have her that LZ7 is a great warmup act for someone like Jason with his high energy show coupled with our high energy intro. It’s a great partnership.
How does your high-energy live show differ from the studio versions of your tracks, especially with drum and bass material like “Perfect Duet”?
Good question! We have live edits and studio edits. The live edits are cut into shorter versions so we can bounce between songs effectively and keep the energy high. We have loved curating this show and have seen some incredible moments where thousands of lights go up as we communicate the message behind the music.
Looking ahead, what can fans expect from LZ7 beyond this release and tour as you move into the next phase of your project?
You can expect a lot more! We are always on the grind working hard behind the scenes to create music coupled with the message that inspires the next generation as and when our stuff comes out we really hope that people engage with it for what it is, turn it up where ever they find themselves and understand that they are worth something to the world. The world is a better place with them in it. That’s the message behind the music and you can expect lots more positivity love joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, gentleness, faithfulness to come from ournew music, tours, festivals, gigs. It’s an absolute vibe and we love sharing it with the world.
