Scanning Backwards, il secondo album di Phase Fatale sarà rilasciato sull’etichetta Ostgut Ton il prossimo 24 gennaio 2020.

Dopo l’album di debutto Redeemer rilasciato su Hospital Production nel 2017, il producer newyorkese con base a Berlino Hayden Payne alias Phase Fatale, torna con il nuovo LP intitolato “Scanning Backwards” rilasciato sull’etichetta Ostgut Ton: un progetto concettuale concepito analizzando le connessioni tra suono e manipolazione psicologica delle frequenze.

Conosciuto per le sue innovative interpretazioni Post-Punk, Noise e Techno, l’ingegnere del suono e DJ resident del Berghain, nelle otto tracce di Scanning Backwards si immerge in escursioni ritmiche in grado di esplorare diverse sfumature del suono, utilizzando frequenze che vengono usate per il controllo della mente e del corpo.

Progettato per essere suonato al Berghain, Phase Fatale nel nuovo album esamina i modi in cui la musica, e in particolare le sub frequenze, sono utilizzate per influenzare il pensiero e sincronizzare le emozioni.

“All tracks on the album, no matter the style, were tailored to sound a certain way in Berghain – something I figured out through years of dancing in the middle of the floor, DJing as a resident and investigating what frequencies really penetrate the body. This includes speech and high-frequency, brain-penetrating instrumentation and drilling textures that I had not utilized so often before, but which I think also have an effect on thought and memory. It’s especially true in a space where gay and fetish roots combine with music in unexpected ways, almost in a cultish manner. A musical and physical deprogramming and reprogramming, psychic driving and de-patterning, the erasing and replacing of memories.”

In definitiva, Scanning Backwards esamina non solo le proprietà manipolative della musica elettronica (mantra, loop, messaggi subliminali) ma anche il modo in cui il ritmo facilita sia lo spostamento, che il pensiero in sincronia; un battito di onde sonore e cerebrali coordinate.
