È arrivata alla fine anche questa edizione del Sophie. Per il Grand Closing il festival cambia direzione proponendo una serata all’insegna del breaks tipico del Regno Unito. Scoprite insieme a noi gli artisti e i momenti più emozionanti della serata.
Pochi posti come l’Andalusia sono così avvezzi ai ritmi sincopati tipici del Regno Unito. Se parliamo della Costa del Sol, poi, dovremmo aprire un lungo discorso per raccontare come la cultura musicale from UK abbia profondamente influenzato la scena elettronica di questa zona – Spoiler: lo apriremo.
Non è quindi un caso che il Sophie Festival abbia deciso di celebrare l’ultima data della sua edizione estiva 2025 chiamando a rapporto una line up più che competitiva con a capo due colossi del Regno Unito: Bicep e Overmono. Parkett ha avuto l’opportunità di partecipare a diverse date del festival (QUI potete leggere il nostro report precedente), e ora è arrivato il momento di tirare le somme.
Sabato 13 settembre Sophie Festival è iniziato già dal primo pomeriggio, come sempre nel grande spazio aperto di Ogus Park. Nel primo dei due palchi, il Garden Stage, il collettivo andaluso OFF Soto ha aperto le danze alle ore 16:00 con uno dei suoi speciali vinyl set dalle note house, con tocchi acid ed electro. Dopo di loro, la DJ e producer argentina Mai Iachetti ci ha regalato un altro house set in vinile dai toni caldi e ipnotici.
Intanto, nel Main Stage, alle 18:30 è iniziato il primo dei 4 grandi set previsti per la serata: direttamente da Berlino la DJ Logic1000 ha animato il pubblico con un house set perfetto per il momento e il mood pomeridiano del festival. Dopo di lei, Bubble Love aka Ross from Friends ha raccolto la staffetta della producer australiana seguendo un’iniziale linea house e tendente al dance: distintiva, del resto, del suo nuovo progetto iniziato lo scorso anno. La performance del produttore britannico ci è sembrata molto interessante proprio per la sua varietà, visto che nel corso di tutto il set c’è stata un’evoluzione graduale dalla dance e dall’house verso toni breaks più oscuri e in maggiore sintonia con chi sarebbe venuto dopo.
Arriviamo a uno degli ospiti più attesi della serata: Overmono. Qui dobbiamo ritagliarci un momento per parlare della qualità dell’impianto acustico del Sophie Festival, che è riuscito egregiamente a sorreggere i bassi elevati dei fratelli Russell. Chapeau. Che dire del set: energico, drop esplosivi alternati a momenti più emozionali, i due dobermann ci hanno fatto ripercorrere tutto lo spettro delle emozioni, dall’energia acid iniziale di “Chicago On Acid” alle emozionanti produzioni proprie “If We Ever”, “Turn The Page”, ai grandi classici come “Blow Out” fino all’ultima ciliegina sulla torta, “flight fm”. Arriva la mezzanotte e Overmono lascia il posto all’altro grande duo della serata: Bicep.
Nel Garden Stage intanto abbiamo trovato i set di Maxime dB e Maher Daniel, entrambi con delle accurate selezioni che hanno acceso gli animi del pubblico di questo palco così intimo e speciale. Arriva dunque il momento di spostarsi nel Main per assistere all’ultimo grande ospite della serata.
Bicep si è esibito nel suo speciale CHROMA AV/DJ SET, cioè un progetto che il duo sta portando avanti da diverso tempo e che prevede esibizioni musicali con visuals in tempo reale adattati alla musica, creando così un’esperienza più che immersiva. I visual della performance sono stati proiettati nel padiglione ovale del Sophie Festival, il che ha contribuito a un’esperienza visiva unica nel suo genere. Musicalmente, la performance di Bicep ha soddisfatto le aspettative del pubblico, offrendo un set pieno di carica e per niente scontato. Con una lunghissima ed introspettiva intro utile a far addentrare gli ascoltatori nell’universo musicale di Bicep, il duo di Belfast ha presentato molti dei suoi temi più celebri, dalle più emozionanti “Glue” e “Opal”, all’introspettiva “Apricots”, per poi passare a momenti più accattivanti e abbordanti altri stili come il techno o la jungle, fino ad arrivare al grande pezzo di chiusura, che abbiamo apprezzato moltissimo: “CHROMA 008 TANGZ” (feat. ELIZA).
Sophie Festival è stata un’esperienza positiva, sia per gli artisti che ha portato in scena, sia per la qualità musicale e acustica che ha offerto al proprio pubblico. Big up per Sophie Festival, agli organizzatori e all’intero personale dell’evento, e grazie per questa edizione 2025.

Sophie Festival: electronic pulses in the heart of Malaga (PT. III – Grand Closing)

Few places like Andalusia are so attuned to the syncopated rhythms typical of the United Kingdom. And if we talk about the Costa del Sol, then we would need to open a long discussion to explain how UK music culture has deeply influenced the electronic scene in this area – spoiler: we will.
It is therefore no coincidence that Sophie Festival decided to celebrate the last date of its 2025 summer edition with a more than competitive line up, led by two UK giants: Bicep and Overmono. Parkett had the opportunity to attend several dates of the festival (HERE you can read our previous report), and now the time has come to draw conclusions.
On Saturday, September 13, Sophie Festival started already in the early afternoon, as always in the large open space of Ogus Park. On the first of the two stages, the Garden Stage, Andalusian collective OFF Soto opened the dances at 4:00 p.m. with one of their special vinyl sets with house notes, touched by acid and electro. After them, Argentine DJ and producer Mai Iachetti gave us another vinyl house set with warm and hypnotic tones.
Meanwhile, on the Main Stage, at 6:30 p.m. the first of the four big sets of the night began: directly from Berlin, DJ Logic1000 animated the crowd with a house set perfect for the moment and the afternoon mood of the festival. After her, Bubble Love aka Ross from Friends took over from the Australian producer, following an initial house and dance-oriented line: distinctive, after all, of his new project launched last year. The performance of the British producer seemed very interesting to us precisely for its variety, since throughout the set there was a gradual evolution from dance and house towards darker breaks, more in tune with who was to come after.
We arrive at one of the most awaited guests of the night: Overmono. Here we must take a moment to talk about the quality of Sophie Festival’s sound system, which managed brilliantly to support the elevated bass of the Russell brothers. Chapeau. What to say about the set: energetic, explosive drops alternating with emotional moments, the two dobermanns made us go through the whole spectrum of emotions, from the acid energy of “Chicago On Acid” to the own productions “If We Ever”, “Turn The Page”, to the great classics like “Blow Out” up to the final cherry on the cake, “flight fm”. Midnight arrives and Overmono give way to the other great duo of the night: Bicep.
Meanwhile, on the Garden Stage, we found the sets of Maxime dB and Maher Daniel, both with accurate selections that lit up the spirits of the audience of this intimate and special stage. Then came the moment to move to the Main to attend the last great guest of the night.
Bicep performed their special CHROMA AV/DJ SET, a project that the duo has been carrying forward for some time and which consists of musical performances with real-time visuals adapted to the music, thus creating an experience more than immersive. The visuals of the performance were projected in the oval pavilion of Sophie Festival, which contributed to a unique visual experience. Musically, Bicep’s performance met the expectations of the audience, offering a set full of energy and not at all predictable. With a long and introspective intro, useful to bring listeners into the musical universe of Bicep, the Belfast duo presented many of their most famous themes, from the most emotional “Glue” and “Opal”, to the introspective “Apricots” and then moving to more engaging moments and approaching other styles like techno or jungle, until reaching the great closing track, which we really appreciated: “CHROMA 008 TANGZ” (feat. ELIZA).
Sophie Festival has been a positive experience, both for the artists it brought on stage and for the musical and acoustic experience it offered to its audience. Big up to Sophie Festival, the organizers, and the entire staff of the event, and thanks for this 2025 edition.
